The Education Fund Luncheon, held at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia on October 28, 2017, was a great success.
Our annual fundraising event was held on October 28 2017 at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia. The Burren Band provided lively music during check in and networking time. Our guest speaker Noah Purcell, Solicitor General, Washington State Attorney General’s Office. The title of his presentation was "Washington State Takes a Stand." It was amazing to hear all that went into filing the lawsuit against the federally sponsored anti-immigration policy that effected select, Muslim prominent, countries.
Two Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented. One was given to Brad Shannon, Editorial Page Editor, The Olympian. Another award was presented to Meg Martin, Program Director, The People’s House, a shelter that focuses on the most vulnerable homeless people.
A Silent Auction was also held to raise funds for our League’s Education Fund. Some facinating articles provided a bargan-buy for the 125 guests who attended the Luncheon.
