What's Coming Up

The Thurston County League, together with Thurston County and the Sustainability Roundtable of Thurston County, is co-sponsoring a workshop on planning on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6:30-9:30 pm at the Thurston County Courthouse, Building 1, Room 280. The workshop is intended to provide the public with a solid basis for understanding and participating in the discussions on sustainable development and eventual countywide sustainable development policies stimulated by the Thurston Regional Planning Council's sustainable development project. The workshop will include an overview of the legal basis of planning in Washington State and of comprehensive planning (and involving citizens in the process), and the tools and techniques available for implementing a comprehensive plan, while maintaining good working relationships among the Planning Commission, local elected officials, and professional staff. It will be conducted by the Planning Association of Washington. Registration information will be available beginning in August. Please watch the Calendar page for more information as it becomes available.
