This general membership meeting will be held via Zoom.
Members will hear about recent LWVTC board decisions, honor three of our members for their outstanding efforts in 2019-2020, and explore ways we might become more involved in addressing homelessness in our community.
Cynthia Stewart will present about the homelessness crisis in Washington State and this region. Cynthia is Issue Chair for Housing/Homelessness for the Washington LWV. Her presentation will include statewide data, underlying causes, trends, implications of the COVID pandemic, and possible remedies including legislation.
Brandon Block, reporter for The Olympian, will talk about his first hand experiences with homeless individuals and communities over the past few months.
Following these presentations, there will be time for Q&A and discussion about ways our League might support the efforts of others working to alleviate homelessness in our community. During this meeting you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts about what you'd like to see our League achieve between now and next spring.WHENSeptember 24, 2020 at 7pmWHEREVirtual via Zoom
Shari Silverman wants to volunteer 2019-09-10 16:32:07 -0700
The LWV-TC is working hard to engage Thurston County residents of all ages not just as informed voters, but as energetic and effective volunteers. There are six major areas where we need volunteer help. Lend your time and expertise to further our mission of educating Thurston County citizens to take action that makes a positive impact in our community.
You may check the area(s) that you want to work with the League. Someone already volunteering in that area will contact you to discuss how you best can use your talents to pursue your passions.
A list of volunteer activities with more details of types of activities that are available under the broad heading can be seen by clicking here. You might want to print, indicate more specifically the types of activities you are interested in, as well as your skills and experience in those areas. Then you can mail the printed copy to LWVTC POBox 2203, Olympia, WA 98507. Emailing an electric copy to our email address will also work: firstname.lastname@example.orgBecome a volunteer
